Ertis Pressure Oxidation (POX) Hydrometallurgical Complex, Kazakhstan

The Ertis Pressure Oxidation (POX) Hydrometallurgical Complex is a landmark gold-processing project being developed in the Pavlodar Region of Kazakhstan. Sponsored by Solidcore Resources through its subsidiary, the Ertis Hydrometallurgical Plant, the project represents the first large-scale facility in Kazakhstan and Central Asia dedicated to the processing of refractory gold concentrates.

The project involves the construction of an advanced processing complex utilizing pressure oxidation (POX) technology to treat refractory and double-refractory gold concentrates, which cannot be efficiently processed using conventional methods. By enabling the domestic processing of complex gold ores, the facility will significantly increase value addition within Kazakhstan's mining sector and reduce the country's dependence on overseas processing facilities.

The total investment in the project amounts to approximately $ 600 million, financed through a combination of international debt and commercial lending. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing up to $ 300 million in financing, alongside a syndicate of international banks, including ING, Societe Generale, and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

Upon completion, the facility will have the capacity to process up to 278,500 tonnes of refractory gold concentrate annually. The project is expected to play a strategic role in strengthening the country's position in the global precious metals industry.

Beyond its economic significance, the Ertis POX Complex will contribute to the modernization and sustainability of Kazakhstan's mining sector through the introduction of advanced metallurgical technologies, increased local processing capabilities, and the development of a more integrated domestic mineral value chain.

The Ertis POX Hydrometallurgical Complex stands as a transformative investment for Kazakhstan's mining and metallurgical industries, supporting industrial diversification, technological advancement, and long-term economic growth.
