Carlsberg to invest $ 344 million in new beverage plant in Kazakhstan

Danish brewing company Carlsberg Group will invest $ 344 million to build a state-of-the-art soft drink production facility in Boraldai, Ili District, Almaty Region, reinforcing Kazakhstan's position as the company's Central Asian hub. The project is expected to make Kazakhstan one of Carlsberg's five largest global markets, serving a regional consumer base of up to 80 million people across Central Asia.

The new facility, to be built on a 17-hectare site, will be one of Carlsberg's three largest production plants worldwide and will produce up to 1 billion liters of beverages annually under a PepsiCo license for Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic. Production will include Pepsi Cola, 7UP, Mirinda, and selected energy drinks. The investment follows Carlsberg's agreement to become PepsiCo's bottler in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from January 2026, significantly expanding its non-alcoholic beverage business in the region.

The project is expected to create more than 230 new jobs. The plant will incorporate advanced sustainability features, including recyclable packaging, water recycling systems, energy-efficient automation, and a dedicated rail connection to reduce transport emissions. Carlsberg also plans to increase local sourcing of raw materials such as sugar.
